(Preparation and Setting Time – 5 minutes; Serves – 4)

2 cups of milk – your choice dairy or dairy free milk will work

1 teaspoon turmeric

½ teaspoon of cinnamon

Pinch of cayenne or a pinch of ginger

Pinch of black pepper

1 teaspoon of maple syrup – or any other syrup you may like, or honey

Pour the milk into a saucepan and add the remaining ingredients. Whisk well. Heat until well heated, but not boiling … enjoy!!

Winter months invite warm milky drinks. Usually I enjoy them in the evenings, but they can be enjoyed after a long day outdoors too. I’m a cocoa girl – and marshmallows add to the delectableness of it … which is not a good choice. Turmeric Milk is new to me. I’d heard about it often, I use turmeric regularly in cooking, but had never taken the time to try this. I like it!! I add a super tiny pinch of sea salt when I make this it adds to the taste, I think. Instead of syrup or honey – toss a few dates into the milk and allow to soak for a while before warming the milk and adding spices. Leave them in the cup when serving. Now, it’s not cocoa, but it is a good sweet and spicy drink which I am learning to like more and more. Cocoa now has competition … this recipe is as good as gold, well, almost!
