Walking True

Truth endures, and because it does we can turn to it over and over again to direct our steps. As a woman, I am grateful for the Word of God to guide and lead silencing all the challenges that may come from within my own heart, and most definitely from the environment I am in. It can do the same for you.
When the noise and clatter of the world grows loud, and ongoing words of discord wear me down to contest what I believe, I know I can turn to the Word for its unchanging Truth.
To find the comfort and grace to sustain in these seasons of life requires disciplined time with the Lord; disciplined time to strengthen my soul and silence the accusations and awkwardness that threaten. You need this too. We do! Look to Scripture to find Truth to establish your thoughts, and direct your life.
We may not experience the same threats, yours may be vastly different to mine, but the same actions need to be established to protect and sustain us so that we can persevere. Our necessary responses to the trials we are in remain the same.
However, if you like me struggle with cultural traditional mindsets on who and what a woman is called to be in the church and in the world, I would encourage you to examine Titus 2. Start with Titus 2:3. Don’t go beyond that for now. Read it a few times and examine the word ‘likewise’ – what is it calling us to do and be. The word likewise means – in the same way, in like manner, equally. We are to equally pay attention to specific requirements of the faith. That means you, and it means me too!
Please note, this instruction supersedes the description of any duty allocated to any women. The call to pay attention to her character and calling takes precedence to any role given her. We are equal in Christ, equal in what He has called us to be. The same precepts of the faith apply to men and women. Character counts and character supersedes culture, it supersedes tradition.
As for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine. Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness. Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good (Titus 2:1-3).
Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:13).
Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity (Titus 2:7).
He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it. For there are many who are insubordinate, empty talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision party (Titus 1:9-10).
