Seasons come and go – they change, and so does my like and fascination with aspects of God’s creation. I can’t say I have a favorite animal, bird, plant, and so on. I have seasons where I am fascinated by something the Lord has created – then it changes. My fascination allows me to be entertained when observing the object of my seasonal interest. Currently, I find shoreline birds – Sandpipers – charming.

Who and what are they, or rather what is their function? Why do they exist? As much as they have value for the purpose the Lord created them, my fascination is they’re simply cute!

You may find them on your coastline – they are migratory. They feed in shallow water – on shorelines – picking up small bits of food like insects, crustaceans, invertebrates: worms, starfish, sea-lice, etc.

In looking for more visual information about Sandpipers, I came across this short movie called Piper. It is ever so cute. The link is just below. It is worth cutting and pasting it to enable viewing of the movie. It is a Disney Pixar movie. I am sure you will enjoy all 4 minutes and 46 seconds of it!

What do you think? Will Sandpipers they become part of your cute collection of favorite creations too? Watch the clip and decide!

  • You have given him dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under his feet, all sheep and oxen, and also the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, whatever passes along the paths of the seas. O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth (Psalm 8:6-9).
