Friendships – relationship building – and prayer are the two essentials we discussed last week in our brief overview of the difficulties single mothers face, and the trials that come to them. We know we have only touched the tip of the iceberg as far as the multifaceted trials single mothers endure daily – so much more can be said. We hope should you have a struggle or concern that you would contact us for comment or counseling. We’d love to be of help to you and your family.

Today we will conclude our discussions on single motherhood by summarizing a few points made in our three month study.

  1. Find counseling / fellowship / discipling – build for your future

  2. Consider your reality – the Biblical perspective. Whose world is it?

  3. Pray and plan for change and growth (John 3:16-18)

  4. Organize your home and strategize your lives

  5. Act on Truth (Proverbs 24:3-4)

  6. Reach out – bless others

  7. Keep your focus (Proverbs 1:4-5)

  8. Practice being patient, faithful and fair (Proverbs 16:32).

  9. Remember how much you have been forgiven

  10. Build relationships – pattern them to your children

As you review the list above you will realize the necessity of prayer – nothing can be accomplished without it. None of these can be practiced and become the new way of doing things without the Lord. You need Him to be central to your lives.

No prayer – no plan. No plan – no potential for change. Remember who is with you!

  1. He carries your load

  2. He is your strength

  3. He is your confidence

  4. He is your hope

  • Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:28-30).

  • "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong (2 Corinthians 12:9-10).

“Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. And no good thing ever dies.” (Shawshank Redemption)
