Recently I met a friend for lunch. The bag she carried was bright orange with a contrasting white and orange flower. It was stylish, fun and cute. The bag became the topic of our conversation. My friend had lived in Israel for many years, as well as in the Philippines – in both countries she worked as a missionary.

Working amongst poverty-stricken people projects were created to help the people become more productive. The goal was to teach them to make products they could sell providing much needed income to improve their lives. Through seeking out ways to help them, she learned from her missions organization ways to recycle plastic bags into sustainable and useful bags, baskets, and containers. Women would make the products, and sell them. My friend had knitted the bag and made the flower from one stores grocery bags. I liked the idea. I liked the bag! It would be a fun project to do with a youth group, a women’s group, or even as gifts for some fun and creative teens, and adventurous little-one’s too!

The above picture was taken from the Etsy Blog. If you would like to know how to make it, please visit their article at https://blog.etsy.com/en/how-tuesday-how-to-make-plarn-crochet-an-eco-friendly-tote-b/
