I find strong bold and confident people pleasing. Usually they speak forthrightly from experiential knowledge. When experiential knowledge rests on the firm conviction of the Word of God being absolute, it resonates with my soul. I believe that as Christians we need to be bold and confident.
Quite a while ago, I wrote down this quote, ‘Christians should be the boldest most confident people in the world, because they are sure of Him.’ So great a quote needs to be attributed to someone, but I did not write down who wrote it. Being sure of Christ is the reason we can walk with confidence.
As a woman, a Christian woman, I delight in the Lord having saved me. He went to the cross and bought my life with His – He bought me to live for Him – this is a position of honor. I am to live and stand for His truths. As much as this is a soul / spiritual truth, it is also a physical truth. I am to conduct myself in a manner befitting Him. Cowering cannot be pleasing to the Lord, nor can crawling. He went to the cross to give us confidence to walk and talk for Him.
Bold and confident means not being afraid to speak the truth in love. It is rooted in delighting in the Lord.
The LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you, (Proverbs 2:6-11)
Speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, (Ephesians 4:15)
Put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another. (Ephesians 4:25)
Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person. (Colossians 4:5-6)
Questions for small group discussion:
Do you live boldly and confidently for Christ?
What does living boldly look like in the life of a Christian woman?
What are the cautions to not come across as proud, or as arrogant?
How can we encourage others to be confident for Christ?
